Overthinking, Anxiety, OCD & Panic

Therapy for Overthinkers, Anxiety, OCD & Panic in Hatboro, PA & Throughout Pennsylvania via Telehealth

Anxiety can make life feel smaller.

You may find yourself constantly anticipating problems, second-guessing decisions, avoiding situations, feeling overwhelmed by uncertainty, or struggling to quiet a mind that rarely seems to rest.

For some people, anxiety takes the form of panic attacks. For others, it appears as perfectionism, chronic worry, intrusive thoughts, compulsive behaviors, relationship struggles, people-pleasing, self-criticism, or a persistent sense that something bad is about to happen.

At Arts in Counseling, we help individuals better understand their anxiety, develop a healthier relationship with uncertainty, and create opportunities for greater flexibility, freedom, and connection.

Understanding Anxiety

Anxiety is not a character flaw.

It is often an attempt by the mind and body to create safety, predictability, or control in situations that feel uncertain, vulnerable, or overwhelming.

While anxiety can sometimes be protective, it can also become rigid, demanding, and disruptive.

Over time, individuals may find themselves organizing more and more of their lives around avoiding discomfort, uncertainty, fear, or distress.

Therapy can help create greater flexibility, self-awareness, and freedom in how we respond to these experiences.

Our Approach to Anxiety

At Arts in Counseling, we view anxiety through a relational, developmental, and whole-person lens.

Rather than focusing solely on symptom reduction, we help clients understand:

  • What anxiety may be protecting

  • The patterns that keep anxiety active

  • The relationships that shape anxiety

  • How anxiety impacts the body

  • The role of self-criticism and perfectionism

  • The influence of family, culture, and life experiences

  • New ways of responding to fear and uncertainty

Our clinicians may incorporate conversation, reflection, mindfulness, creativity, movement, somatic awareness, and experiential approaches when helpful.

You do not need to be artistic or creative to benefit from these approaches.

OCD Therapy

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) often involves intrusive thoughts, fears, urges, images, or doubts that feel difficult to dismiss, along with behaviors or mental rituals intended to reduce distress or create certainty.

Many individuals with OCD experience significant shame, confusion, and isolation surrounding their symptoms.

At Arts in Counseling, we offer relational, insight-oriented, and experiential approaches to understanding and living with OCD.

Together, we may explore:

  • The impact OCD has on daily life and relationships

  • Shame and self-judgment

  • Emotional experiences underlying symptoms

  • Family and relational patterns

  • Identity, meaning, and self-understanding

  • Building greater flexibility in response to obsessive thoughts and fears

While our clinicians are knowledgeable about OCD, we do not provide intensive Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) treatment.

Panic Attacks & Panic Disorder

Panic attacks can feel frightening and overwhelming.

Many people fear they are losing control, having a medical emergency, or "going crazy."

The experience of panic can lead individuals to avoid situations, places, or activities they associate with previous attacks, creating increasing restrictions on daily life.

Therapy can help clients better understand panic, reduce fear of bodily sensations, and develop greater confidence in their ability to navigate moments of distress.

What Clients Often Hope to Gain

Clients frequently seek therapy to:

  • Feel less controlled by anxiety

  • Reduce panic and overwhelm

  • Develop self-compassion

  • Better tolerate uncertainty

  • Improve relationships

  • Understand recurring patterns

  • Increase emotional flexibility

  • Build confidence and resilience

  • Reconnect with activities and relationships that matter

  • Live with greater freedom and authenticity
